HOW TO USE

• Ensure timber is clean, dry and free from dust, grease and contamination
• Sand new timber using 120–180 grit sandpaper and remove all dust
• Remove old coatings using Nova 08 Novastrip where required
• Stir thoroughly before and during use
• Thin the first coat with up to 20% Mineral Turpentine to improve penetration into timber
• Apply evenly following the timber grain direction
• Apply subsequent coats undiluted using a quality brush or spray equipment
• Allow a minimum of 8 hours between coats
• Lightly sand between coats using 180–220 grit sandpaper
• Remove all sanding dust before recoating
• Allow 16–24 hours drying between coats for optimum gloss development
• Apply a minimum of 2–3 coats depending on timber exposure and porosity
• For spray application, thin with up to 20% Mineral Turpentine where required
• Avoid excessive film build

Critical: Do not apply to damp timber, during rain or high humidity, or to timber intended for permanent water immersion. Not suitable for high-traffic decking applications. Nova 16 must not be applied over Nova 15 Timberseal Penetrating Oil.

Tip: For maximum durability on exterior timber, apply three full coats and pay particular attention to end grain and exposed timber edges.

HOW TO USE

• Ensure timber is clean, dry and free from wax, grease and contamination
• Sand new timber using 140–180 grit sandpaper and remove all dust
• Stir thoroughly before and during use
• Apply using a quality bristle brush following the timber grain direction
• Work product thoroughly into end grain, joints and exposed timber edges

For Porous or Weathered Timber:
• Thin the first coat with up to 10–15% Genkem Mineral Turpentine to improve penetration
• Allow 4–8 hours drying depending on conditions

Subsequent Coats:
• Apply a minimum of 2–3 coats
• Allow at least 8–16 hours between coats
• For best results allow overnight drying between coats
• Lightly sand between coats using 220 grit sandpaper

Critical: Not suitable for continuous water immersion, high-traffic decking, below-waterline marine applications or damp timber. Do not apply during rain or in excessively humid conditions.

Tip: Pre-treat exterior timber with Nova 30 Timber Treatment & Preserver before sealing for enhanced long-term timber protection.

Hardwood Application:
• Dense hardwoods such as Balau, Teak, Saligna, Meranti, IPE and Massaranduba may require additional coats
• For difficult hardwoods, an initial 50/50 blend of Nova 15 and Mineral Turpentine may be used to improve penetration
