HOW TO USE

• Ensure timber moisture content is between 8% and 12%
• Sand surfaces thoroughly and remove all dust before coating
• Do not wash floors before application
• Product is supplied ready to use — do not dilute
• Apply between 10°C and 25°C

Application Tools:

First Coat:
• Apply evenly
• Allow drying for 2–4 hours
• Sand using 100 grit sandpaper

Second Coat:
• Remove dust thoroughly
• Apply second coat
• Allow drying for 2–4 hours
• Sand using 220 grit sandpaper

Final Coat:
• Remove dust
• Apply final coat evenly

High Traffic Areas:
• Apply additional light coats where required

Critical: Not suitable for exterior woodwork, decking, damp timber or poorly prepared surfaces. Avoid excessive film build and apply in one direction only.

Tip: Open-grain timbers such as Pine, Oregon Pine and Yellowwood should be pre-treated with Nova Sanding Sealer for best results.

Penetrating Wood Stain

HOW TO USE

• Ensure timber is clean, dry and free from dust, wax, grease and contamination
• Sand timber to a fine smooth finish before application
• Remove old coatings using Nova 08 Novastrip where required
• Shake thoroughly before use and stir occasionally during application
• Always perform a colour test on a hidden area before full application

Application:
• Apply using a clean brush, lint-free cloth or spray equipment
• Apply evenly following the timber grain direction
• Allow approximately 15 minutes drying between coats
• Additional coats will produce a darker colour intensity

For Lighter Shades:
• Carefully dilute using Methylated Spirits
• Always test colour before full application

Overcoating:
• Allow stain to dry for 30–60 minutes before applying a protective finish

Recommended Interior Overcoats:
• Nova 17 Novathane PU Varnish
• Nova 12 Novafloor

Recommended Exterior Overcoats:
• Nova 14 Novaseal Marine Sealer

Critical: Nova 18 is not a protective coating and must always be overcoated with a suitable sealer or varnish. Do not premix Nova 18 directly into any varnish or topcoat.

Tip: Different timber species absorb stain differently. Always test on offcuts or an inconspicuous area before staining the entire project.

Interior Polyurethane Timber Varnish

HOW TO USE

• Ensure timber is clean, dry and free from dust, wax, grease and contamination
• Sand new timber using 140–180 grit sandpaper
• Remove old coatings using Nova 08 Novastrip where required
• Remove wax residue using a suitable wax remover
• Clean oily timbers using Mineral Turpentine and fine steel wool if necessary
• Stir thoroughly before and during use

First Coat:
• May be thinned with up to 20% Mineral Turpentine to improve penetration
• Apply using a clean brush or spray equipment
• Apply evenly following the timber grain direction
• Allow 2–4 hours drying before sanding
• Sand lightly using 160–180 grit sandpaper

Second & Third Coats:
• Remove all sanding dust
• Apply subsequent coats undiluted
• Sand lightly between coats using 180–220 grit sandpaper
• Apply a third coat where required

Spray Application:
• Suitable for spray application at approximately 275kPa

Critical: Not suitable for exterior exposure, timber flooring or permanent water immersion. Do not apply to damp timber or during cold and humid conditions. Avoid excessive film build which may cause runs or wrinkling.

Tip: For enhanced timber colour, apply Nova 18 Novadye before varnishing. Do not mix Nova 18 directly into Nova 17.
