Bourne’s documented floor-care heritage extends to at least 1954, when Bourne Seal was already an established British treatment for floors, woodwork and other porous surfaces. Bourne Gleem formed part of the original range by 1956, while the brand’s South African association with Genkem is documented from 1973.
Over time, Bourne developed under Genkem into a focused system for preparing, sealing, finishing, restoring and maintaining timber floors.
At the centre of the range is Bourne Gleem, a legacy product identity associated with durable, high-gloss timber-floor finishes for approximately seven decades. Around it, the modern Bourne system combines sanding sealer, traditional solvent-based finishes in gloss, velvet and matt appearances, water-based alternatives, a professional two-part system, floor polish and polish remover.
